Years ago my Soviet friend, who was quietly working with me; exclaimed out of the clear blue, "I love this country!" I laughed, then asked him, "why is that?"
He said that in the Soviet Union, a community of cattlemen will all have 10 cows each; except for one, who has 100 cows. The rest of the community will say, "look at him!" "He has 100 cows." " How did he get them?" " No one deserves that kind of wealth." Then in sort of a sly tone, he narrated, "we should kill his cows; and then he will equal to us."
He went on to say, that if the same scenario played out in America, the cattlemen would say,"look at him." "He has 100 cows." "How did he get them?" "Well if he can do it; I can do it!"
He went on to exclaim again, that he loves this country.
I loved to talk to this guy. I gained tremendous insight from his perspectives. He had a brilliant mind. He was smart enough to escape the mentality of his peers.
